GnuPG and S/MIME keys

These keys are strictly for private correspondence. Do not use them for anything work-related. I have separate keys for work-related purposes - contact me at my work address to obtain these.

• Caution: Use this fingerprint only for key identification, and the trust network to assess trust
• Revoked GnuPG key, key ID 3DE9A7CA
• This key was revoked due to a break-in on a server it was stored on. There is no proof that the secret key (which was pass phrase protected) would have been exfiltrated, but it has been revoked in any case. If you have this key in your keyring, please download the revocation certificate.
• A very old PGP 2.6 type key, key ID F04A0371
• Download from my page or search for my keys on the MIT PGP key server
• The use of this key is discouraged. It remains in "use" because it has had its fingerprint published in a printed book, The Global Internet Trust Register, 1999 edition. It is only intended to be used as a trust root as it signs the current operational key.

Secure email: S/MIME

If GnuPG is unavailable to you, you may also try S/MIME, which is the stuff that is natively available in, say, Mac OS X Mail and Microsoft Outlook. Download my S/MIME certificate in PEM format or the same certificate in DER format. If this made no sense to you, just try each one.

You will also want to install the CACert root keys in order to properly verify my certificate.

Certificate SHA-1 fingerprint is 65:3B:6A:BC:A3:89:93:AD:AB:F1:3E:2D:A8:8C:40:74:87:F5:09:40 (but you shouldn't rely on this - rely on the root).
